Copenhagen Design Week is an international initiative from the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, directed by Danish Design Centre. The Copenhagen Design Week was founded in 2009 as a biennale.
Copenhagen Design Week focuses on ”Think Human” related issues and activities presented as exhibitions, conferences, seminars, workshops, talks, etc.
Copenhagen Design Week is proud to present the INDEX:Award, the worlds largest design award to ”Design to improve life”. Also the week highlights Danish design knowledge, design thinking and Danish design solutions that help the world ”Think Human” locally and globally.
A natural starting point for Copenhagen Design Week’s many events is Kvæsthusmolen (by The Royal Danish Playhouse) down by the harbour in Copenhagen. This will be the centre for the main part of Copenhagen Design Week’s exhibitions. INDEX: will also exhibit their Award-winners here. And different design zones in Copenhagen will feature open showrooms, seminars, talks, etc.
Also, Copenhagen has recently been named ”the most cool city in Europe” by The Ecologist and during Copenhagen Design Week there will be lots of activities around the city. The scenic city and beautiful harbour will be buzzing with design events, open showrooms, talks, walks and great architecture. Many of the events take place in the open and within comfortable distance – by foot, cycling, by harbour bus, metro or taxi.
Copenhagen Design Week’s own ”Think Human”-exhibitions are curated and conceptualized by Architect Tina Midtgaard and Architect Karen Kjaergaard.
