Paper Chair by Mathias Bengtsson is the result of a process that is both handmade and digital. Thousands of sheets of paper are layered to create a sculpture that has no frame, joints or screws. The undulating, striped surface is created by using two prototypes -one black, one white - and splicing them together to make two chairs.
The concept takes the viewer from "Handcraft to Mindcraft - a new conceptual design attitude among Danish craftspeople where storytelling, reflection and critical comments are combined with craft skills and aesthetic qualities." Paper Chair was part of DANISH CRAFTS´exhibition MINDCRAFT10 curated by Karen Kjaergaard, and presented in Milan 2010 during Il Salone.
